The Reality of Special Needs
Raising a child with special needs can be an overwhelming financial burden. According to Autism Speaks, families can face lifetime costs ranging from $1.2 million to $2.4 million for individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities. For those with other cognitive, psychiatric, or physical disabilities, the financial demands can be even greater.

Camp Champion Buddies
Camp Champion is designed to enhance the camp experience for all participants, particularly those with special needs. This program pairs campers with trained buddies who provide support, encouragement, and companionship throughout various camp activities.
Benefits of the Buddy Program
Inclusivity: Buddies help bridge gaps in communication and social interaction, allowing all participants to fully enjoy the camp experience.
Peer Support: Buddies serve as positive role models, encouraging campers to try new activities and build confidence, while developing social skills and friendships that extend beyond the camp setting.
Safety and Comfort: With a Buddy by their side, campers with special needs can feel more secure and at ease in unfamiliar environments.
Enhanced Learning: Working alongside their buddies, campers have the opportunity to learn from one another. This interaction promotes understanding and empathy, fostering a sense of community among all participants.
